OCEAN BEACH KIWI SURF LIFESAVING CLUB
NEWSLETTER - 8th DECEMBER 2008
Hey guys,
CONGRATULATIONS!
A big thanks to everyone who took time to collect for National Jandal Day, the day was long and hot but with everyone’s help it came together.
Well Done to all Patrol Captains and IRB drivers, as our most senior members, took control of and ran their patrols with confidence. Much is on their shoulders regarding being responsible for guidance and direction of our new members.
Congratulations also to our members David Benson, George Mackie & Mitch Glasgow who performed a successful rescue last weekend 30 November. They were ably supported by Dyson Mantell-Harding & Scott Wielinga. Walter Aoake - OBK Lifesaving Director
NEWS WITHIN THE CLUB
The van will normally be travelling to Ocean on the weekends, people who would like a lift please contact Effie, Pat or the Patrol Captain for that weekend.
REMINDER: If you are holding any OBK Patrol Uniforms could you please return them to the Beach. It is becoming expensive for the club replacing uniforms that have not been returned.
SLSNZ Rules: Uniforms are only to be worn on patrol.
WAIPATIKI BATTLE OF THE BAYS – SATURDAY 13TH Dec @ 10.00am
It has been a real struggle getting competitors to be available to compete this weekend, secondary schools athletic nationals, a rugby academy, ballet, a wedding and work commitments will all contribute to our team this weekend being a small unit. Never mind, those competing I am sure will do there best for the club and have some fun. We will gather our forces in the New Year!
Richard Wilson and John Merritt will be managing the team as Pat is also away (with apologies). The van will be leaving Kiwi Beach 8.30am for those requiring a ride to Waipatiki on Saturday. For those making their own way out please be at Waipatiki beach no later than 9.00am.
Bring some good healthy food for lunch and plenty of drinking water. If you have a light deck chair or stool that you can bring, do so – helps with the comfort during the day. Remember – sun hat, sun block and warm clothes.
We will be wearing black togs and our club caps, if you do not have either of these please get in contact with Effie or Pat a.s.a.p. Those with spare club caps – please bring them all along!
We are at an early stage in re-developing a competitive team for Ocean Beach Kiwi. It won’t happen over a few weekends but with all your support it will happen! Let’s enjoy our competition together, support each other and grow and develop together.
